Slickware

The behavior of a custom is primarily decided by the level of AI that it can hold (See AI).

Slickware that uses AI must be found, bought, created, or upgraded to the level of AI they want to hold. Upgrading the AI capabilities takes just as long and costs just as much as creating the Slickware from scratch. The AI must be created, found, or purchased separately (See AI). This means that creating AI powered Slickware is a multi-step process that can create opportunities for adventure hooks and cooperation between players.

Conversion to a PC

If a player wants to play a PC that is a sentient AI that has inhabited a hosts brain, it takes the same amount of time, effort, or money to remove the AI as it does to install it. This also requires physical removal, not just the removal of software. AI embodied in a host becomes dependent on the physical body of the user. This requires Surgery. All of the health benefits and risks included with surgery occur for the host, and if the surgeon fails their surgery roll, the AI is destroyed, so attempting to remove a sentient Slickware from a host can lead to the death of the user and the AI. The successfully removed AI then needs to be installed into a Sleeve , a robot, or a Cybermod.
